SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. - A man was arrested Saturday morning after a woman was shot during an argument at her home in Sullivan County, Indiana State Police said.
Dispatchers at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said about 6:30 a.m., they received a 911 call on reports of a shooting at a home in the 1200 block of West County Road 650 South, near Carlisle.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found a 37-year-old woman lying in the yard suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds.
She was flown via medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.
ISP investigators accused Adam Keith Bales, 32, of attempted murder, aggravated battery and criminal confinement in connection with the incident. Bales was taken into custody at the Sullivan County Jail where he was held without bail.
Police said Bales and the woman lived in the home together and that they suspect the shooting happened as the argument escalated. Detectives did not say how the victim and suspect were related.
