Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis prepares for Operation Rapid Response

Public advised not to be alarmed during drill

INDIANAPOLIS - Campus officials at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis conducted a full-scale emergency drill Tuesday.

Operation Rapid Response combined the efforts of IUPUI police, Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers, Indianapolis Fire Department crews and emergency responders, officials said.

Classes were not affected and students, faculty and staff on campus were not required to take action.

Police advised the public not to be alarmed as some officers were using plastic guns during the drill, and some students taking part in the exercise appeared to be injured.
