Indianapolis Housing Agency lays off 8 employees amid sequester woes

Agency already instituting furloughs

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Housing Agency has laid off eight employees, citing sequester woes.

The agency provides housing to more than 7,600 families a year through low incoming public housing and Section 8 rentals.

To meet a tighter budget, the agency said Friday it would also forgo updating technology and house fewer people in the coming months.

The agency previously announced that it would require all employees to take one unpaid furlough day a month.
