INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis lawyer is expected to plead guilty to wire fraud conspiracy in a scheme to defraud a bank and the state.

Paul J. Page has petitioned the U.S. District Court in South Bend to plead guilty in the case that involved the purchase of an Elkhart office building that was leased to the Department of Child Services.

Page is one of three men charged in a 14-count indictment.

His petition indicates he has agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors in Indianapolis.

That could be a bad sign for his co-defendants, John Bales of Indianapolis and William Spencer of Carmel. Bales and Spencer are awaiting trial after pleading not guilty.
