Indianapolis man accused of driving drunk with unrestrained children in car

Patrick A. Pride, 39, arrested Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS - A man is facing multiple felony charges after he was found driving drunk with children in the car, police said.

Patrick A. Pride, 39, of Indianapolis was pulled over on Interstate 70 Saturday night after speeding past a state trooper, crossing three lanes of traffic and attempting to pass a vehicle using the shoulder, Indiana State Police said.

The trooper who pulled Pride over said three children -- ages 2, 4 and 13, -- were unrestrained in the back seat of the car, and Pride smelled like alcohol and was acting impaired.

Pride failed on-scene field sobriety tests and was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Pride was later arrested on a felony charge of neglect of a dependent, a felony charge of operating while intoxicated with juvenile passengers, and a misdemeanor charge of operating while intoxicated causing endangerment.

A 35-year-old female front-seat passenger in the car told police that she wanted out of the car because Pride was acting crazy, police said. The vehicle was released to the woman.
