Indianapolis mother sentenced to 15 years in prison for death of 1-year-old

INDIANAPOLIS – A woman who was arrested for the death of her 1-year-old son in 2014, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday afternoon.

Diamond Miller was given prison time and ordered to spend five years at the Craine House, an alternative correctional facility for women.

Miller was charged in 2014 with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury after her son, Elijah Polk, 20 months, died October 29, 2014 due to complications from blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

Indiana Department of Child Services records show months before Polk’s death, Miller took the child to the hospital for a broken left ankle. The report also said Elijah had a bruise on his face in the shape of bite mark. Miller claimed it came from petichia and a rash.

Frank Larkins III, Miller’s boyfriend continues to face multiple charges, including murder, as the child was under his care as well during the time of death. He is set to appear in court Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.
