As central Indiana moves into the spring storm season, Indianapolis Power and Light officials are prepping their dispatchers on how to handle possible power outages.
IPL says it will work closely with first responders to dispatch crews if safety issues arise that possibly impact customers.
Joe Bentley, IPL senior vice president of customer operations, said the utility company's operations control center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"We're able to tell where the large outages are so we can concentrate on getting the power restored to those customers," Bentley said.
IPL officials say its staff will be able to respond within seconds if there is an outage so that customers aren't left in the dark.
