INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis was listed as the 13th most dangerous city in the country, according to a new report by 24/7 Wall St.

The report, that looks at 2015 crime data from the FBI, cited Indy’s 148 murders from last year as the main reason for the ranking.

“The city reported 440 robberies and 752 aggravated assaults per 100,000 people in 2015, much more than the national rates of 102 and 238 per 100,000 people, respectively,” according to the report.

This year, the city has 116 homicides as of Oct. 2, 16 more than this time last year.

The report also noted the city’s murder and rape rates were much higher than the national figures.

While Indianapolis wasn’t ranked the most dangerous city, which was given to St. Louis, Indy has acknowledged its crime problem and taking steps to reduce gun violence.

IMPD Chief Troy Riggs has organized several bike rides for the community and officers to enhance relationships.

Mayor Joe Hogsett has made efforts to jumpstart community policing initiatives and improving public safety by installing new streetlights, among other things.
