38-year-old man shot, killed in vehicle on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A 38-year-old man has died after he was shot while driving on Indianapolis' northeast side Saturday evening. 

Officers were called to the 1800 block of E. 23rd Street around 6 p.m. for a shooting investigation after a crash. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had crashed into another vehicle in a parking lot. The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. He later died. 

The Marion County Coroner identified the victim as Kirk Shurill.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
