INDIANAPOLIS — Brightwood College campuses, including one on the south side of Indianapolis, are set to close permanently on Friday.

According to its website, Brightwood College opened its first campus in Dayton, Ohio in Oct. 2015 when a Kaplan College there opened as Brightwood. The Indianapolis campus, 4200 South East St., also formed from a previous Kaplan College location in Jan. 2016.

School President Brent Jenkins said the Accrediting Council For Independent Colleges and Schools suspended the college's accreditation on Tuesday with the intent to withdraw. The uncertainty surrounding the college's accreditation resulted in the inability to acquire additional money to operate the campuses.

The closure affects 450 students in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis campus offered programs in allied health, nursing, and trades.
