INDIANAPOLIS – In her sixth season leading the Colts, Carlie Irsay-Gordon believes she’s living out her dreams and setting an example for women in business.

The Colts owner and vice chair said being born into the Colts family is something her parents taught her and her siblings to never take for granted.

“It’s almost like a stewardship of being able to help this team and connect with our community and help our community connect with each other,” she said.

Irsay-Gordon said she always had big dreams, and her father Jim Irsay, never discouraged her or her sisters.

“I used to want to be a linebacker,” she said. “My dad never said ‘No, sorry. He was like ‘that’s a good dream’…. He never said you guys are females and you’re going to have all of these roadblocks and we never looked at it that way.”

The mother and business woman said she loves being a positive role model for her children and other women.

“When they’re grown up, I want to model for them that I’m doing something that makes me happy,” she said.

For women at the business table, she shared some advice.

“We tend to underestimate ourselves, and I think you just have to jump into the pool because I guarantee you your male counterparts are going to be asking their bosses, ‘when am I going to be promoted.’”
