INDIANAPOLIS – With IPS school board administrators making the decision to close Broad Ripple High School, district officials said they have plans of selling the property.

Broad Ripple High School sits on 16 acres of land and has an estimated value of $8-$12 million. The Broad Ripple Village Association did a survey of 574 residents asking what they would like to see the property used for moving forward.

"The overwhelming No. 1 choice they want to see some type of school or educational resource stay in the building,” Kent Springer, Broad Ripple Village Association board member. “They want to see use of the auditorium, track and field and gymnasium; they think they are strong amenities of the facilities.”

While education was a top priority, some neighbors said they’re afraid more housing will come to the area.

“In the Broad Ripple area we have more than enough apartments and condos that are constantly being built. I think it is becoming ridiculous,” said Robin Osborn.

IPS officials said in the future they will send out a request for proposals for the property.
