INDIANAPOLIS – What began as an anti-abortion protest on Indy’s north side Friday, ended as a case of mistaken identity that left neighbors upset.
People in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood said they woke up to protesters shouting and handing out graphic flyers to children. The protesters’ target was the home of the new president of Planned Parenthood.
“I was in my home and heard a bunch of people screaming at one another,” said one mother who didn’t want to be identified. “I came out to find protestors down there and kids walking to school and having to look at this huge horrible poster. I guess aborted fetuses I guess you might call them.”
The group of protestors with Operation Save America showed up at the home where they thought Christie Gillespie lived – the CEO of Planned Parenthood.
A problem occurred once the group found out Gillespie no longer lived at the home and a new family had moved in.
“I was surprised that a former residence of mine would be targeted like that,” said Gillespie.
Planned Parenthood officials said that wasn’t the first time they’d interacted with the group.
Organizers with Operation Save America said they had “bad intel” and left the home after learning they were on the wrong property.
