INDIANAPOLIS -- The accolades continue to roll in for the Indianapolis International Airport.  For the fifth year in a row, the airport has been recognized as the Best Airport in North America serving more than two million passengers per year.

The honor was announced Monday by the Airports Council International, the trade association of the world's airports.

Each year ACI hands out Airport Service Quality Awards based upon feedback from passenger surveys taken at 320 airports in 80 countries.

Indianapolis International Airport came in first place in 2016 for the Best Airport by Region with over two million passengers per year.  The airport also captured that honor in 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012.

"We're evaluated on 34 key performance indicators by passengers. To earn their top marks for five years running is a significantly encouraging message to the IND staff that work tremendously hard to ensure a stellar customer experience," said Mario Rodriguez, Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director.
