INDIANAPOLIS -- One year after an Indiana couple's deaths police are hoping surveillance video can help them identify two persons of interest in their murder.
On Wednesday, November 23, 2016 around 6:30 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to an accident in the 2300 block of N. Adams Street for an accident. When they arrived they found Jessica Downey, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was driving the vehicle that had just crashed.
Downey was taken to the hospital where she died the next day.
A couple hours after Downey's accident, police were called to the 2400 block of Oxford Street where Evans Johnson was found shot to death in an alley. Police quickly determined that Johnson and Downey were boyfriend/girlfriend.

During the investigation, police uncovered surveillance video of two persons of interest walking with Johnson just prior to his murder. The video shows Johnson walking behind the two persons of interest before they take off running.
Police are hoping to identify the persons of interest in connection with the murders.
Downey and Johnson had lived in Vincennes and Evansville prior to moving to Indianapolis. Police believe the suspects could be from either of those three locations.
