Purdue alum and Indiana National Guard veteran to be featured on Shark Tank

INDIANAPOLIS -- A former Purdue University student and veteran of the Indiana National Guard will be featured on this Sunday’s episode of Shark Tank.

Bart Lomont graduated in 2007 from the Purdue College of Agriculture and served nine years in the Indiana National Guard before moving to Dallas with his wife.

His business, Robin Autopilot, is the world’s first robotic lawn mowing service.

“We started the business about three years ago as sort of an Uber for landscaping,” said Lomont.

Over the next few years, Lomont said his business grew so large that they couldn’t provide the higher quality services that they wanted – so they started testing robotic lawnmowers like the ones already being used in Europe.

From there, Robin Autopilot was born.

“We’re able to offer emissions free, much more reliable service that we complement with human crews that actually go out and do the edging and trimming and provide the service where a human needs to be working,” said Lomont.

Robin Autopilot currently serves Dallas the Dallas and Austin area in Texas but Lomont said they are hoping to expand throughout the country by working with other veterans to open franchises in different states.

Lomont said he can’t discuss the specifics of Sunday’s episode but he’s proud of the image his company portrayed.

“I think veterans and Hoosiers everywhere will be proud of the business we’ve built,” said Lomont.

You can watch the episode at 9 p.m. Sunday on RTV6.
