Purdue named one of the top public university in the country

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University is the top public Indiana university and fifth best public university in the United States, based on new rankings from the Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education.

The list is based on several factors both in on-campus learning and environment and student success after graduation. The rankings include more than 1,000 institutions in the United States.

Purdue ranked fifth among public institutions, with UCLA and University of Michigan taking the top two spots. The school also ranked 43rd nationally, with Harvard and Columbia University taking the top two spots on that list.

"We’re pleased to again be among the nation’s top institutions based on a methodology that focuses on value and outcomes, the goals we at Purdue believe should be higher education’s central priorities,” Purdue President Mitch Daniels said. "We continue to thank our alumni for their excellence and our faculty for their commitment to providing a high-quality education at the highest proven value."

Also included on the list of the top schools in the country is Notre Dame at No. 24, Indiana University Bloomington at No. 138 and Butler at No. 174.
