INDIANAPOLIS -- The Ronald McDonald House of Central Indiana has been helping families for 35 years, but lately, the demand has been greater than ever and the charity is running out of room at their current location.
The Ronald McDonald House is currently at full capacity, which means there is a waiting list full of families hoping to get a room so they can stay near their children while they're in the hospital.
"We're in a critical space, We're turning away more families than we can help,' said Michelle Study, CEO of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Indiana.
Study attributes the demand partly to the fact that families come from all over the world to be treated at Riley Hospital for Children, which means longer stays.
There are already plans in place to find a new building for the Ronald McDonald House in the near future so they can continue serving more families in central Indiana.
"It's just amazing to realize the impact it has," said Karen Campbell, one of the founders of the Ronald McDonald House. "When you realize we reach out to 1,000 families a year."
