INDIANAPOLIS -- Company is coming in B1G numbers to downtown Indianapolis this weekend. Big, as in the Big Ten Football Championship.

The nationally-televised game that will give either Wisconsin or Ohio State the Big Ten Championship, and possibly a trip to the national college playoffs is Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium, but expect company to arrive to eat, drink, and occupy every square inch of downtown hotels, bars, restaurants, and stores starting this Friday.

How much company? Try 70,000. How much money? Try $17 million over just a two-day period.

If you’re headed downtown this weekend, it may be best to plan your route, plan your parking, and make a reservation. But it may be too late to book a hotel room downtown.

Visit Indy’s Chris Gahl expects all 7,200 downtown hotel rooms to be booked full by Friday.

Gahl says along with the national spotlight and first-time viewers and visitors, many fans of the two competing teams have been this way before: “Both Wisconsin and Ohio State fan bases travel extremely well and have carved a path to Indy through the years for our Big Ten related events.”

So while company may be coming downtown, many visitors are old friends to Indy who’ve been here in the past for any number of Big Ten and NCAA games and playoffs. Be you Buckeye, Badger, or a true-blue Hoosier, it should be a party all weekend, so prepare, and enjoy!
