INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was found shot to death on his mother's front porch early Sunday morning on Indianapolis' west side.
Officers were called to Vermont Street near Tibbs Avenue around 4:30 a.m. after a woman called 911.
That woman tells RTV6 she heard four gunshots.
Police responded to the area but were not able to find a victim. It wasn't until after 8 a.m. that a man walking by a home on Vermont Street saw the victim laying on a front porch.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene say the victim was homeless and living in a tent in his mother's back yard. The victim's identity has not been released but police say he is a 47-year-old man.
Police believe the shots fired call around 4:30 a.m. is was likely connected to the homicide.
Police say they do not know if the victim's mother was home at the time of the shooting.
