INDIANAPOLIS – A group of 23 Chihuahuas were rescued by the officials of the Humane Society of Indianapolis and the organization is seeking help to give the animals medical treatment.

The Chihuahuas, who were raised in a hoarding situation, are beginning the process of being medically evaluated, which includes vaccines, spaying, neutering and heartworm tests.

Humane Society workers said several will require long-term care, including two dogs with significant injuries and infections.

The society set a goal to raise $10,000 to have these procedures completed to eventually have the dogs adopted.

Those interested in donating are encouraged to visit the Indy Humane website and use “#sayCHIS” in the space requiring the animal’s name.
