INDIANAPOLIS - On Saturday, students at the Carpe Diem Meridian School held the second annual Valentines for Vets event.
Volunteers made valentines and assembled bags of candy for veterans. Last year they made more than 1,000 that got sent to vets.
The feedback they got from the men and women in uniform made it all worthwhile, they said.
"We didn't necessarily give back the way that they did we weren't putting our lives on the line by making Valentine's cards but they definitely appreciated the fact that we cared so much and we were so willing to give time on a Saturday to come here and just make the world a better place," said student volunteer Kayla Mayhugh.
Students were hoping to double their count from last year by sending out 2,000 valentines to area veterans.
