INDIANAPOLIS -- A Franklin Township woman says there is no excuse for her neighbor shooting and killing her dog over the weekend.

Tiffani Allen says her dog "Hank" was known for getting out of her yard.

"He's the biggest, most curious dude ever," she said. "He just is."

But Allen says he also wasn't vicious.

"I always used to tell him he was misunderstood, that he needed to stop running out all the time," Allen said.

The American bulldog just looked scary, Allen said, which was apparently enough to lead her neighbor to shoot him Sunday morning.

Allen says it happened around 9:30 a.m. She left Hank outside, tied up, and minutes later heard two gunshots.

She then found her dog bleeding from the neck.

"I don't know if it was vengeance on me," she said. "I don't know why he did it."

IMPD was waiting to release the full report of the case, and Allen's neighbor couldn't be reached for comment.

Allen says her other dog won't eat and is depressed. She says she plans to file a lawsuit to get justice.

"He was a good dog, a loyal friend and gentle to everyone," she said.

Indianapolis Animal Care & Control says Hank's shooting was the ninth incident in the last year they've investigated where an area dog was shot.
