SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - Interstate 74 reopened Friday morning after crews repaired the road damaged after a fatal, fiery crash near Shelbyville.

Police said a tanker truck overturned and exploded Thursday afternoon, killing the driver.

The tanker was filled with diesel fuel and the intense flames destroyed the roadway, officials said.

The crash happened just east of the London Road exit near the 105 mile marker, shutting down the roadway for more than 16 hours.

The eastbound lanes of I-74 reopened just before 8 a.m., officials said.
