MADISON COUNTY, Ind. - Authorities are now recommending criminal charges in the case where investigators found more than 170 dead animals on a Madison County farm.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office has submitted probable cause affidavits to the prosecutor asking for felony charges of neglect of a dependent and failure to dispose of a dead animal. A misdemeanor charge of animal neglect was also recommended.
Authorities confirm they found 171 dead animals on the farm last month and that Daniel Ault, his wife and their two children were also living in the barn.
The living area was condemned by the Madison County Board of Health during the investigation.
In addition to the dead animals, 165 live animals were located
The final decision on charges rests with the Madison County prosecutor.
