INDIANAPOLIS – To help feed more students in need, Indianapolis Public Schools will begin using a food truck-like concept as a resource.

Bus Stop Café is equipped with ovens, a microwave and grill that will allow the district to offer freshly made food on site.

On Friday, the truck delivered free summer meals to students at Stratford Apartments on the city’s west side.

"This is a great resource. It gives the kids something to do. They love it. We come everyday, everyday that it's offered,” said Vicki Carter.

IPS officials said the truck is needed more than ever as their summer food program served more than 45,000 free meals over the past couple of months, which is a 10 percent increase from the previous year.
