CUTLER, Ind. - A Carroll County man spent his Wednesday morning in jail after authorities said he beat up his ex-girlfriend and held her against her will.
Indiana State Police (ISP) said a Logansport woman reported Tuesday night that Billy Davis, 25, had assaulted her and held her captive for several hours at his Cutler, Ind., home. She said she had dated Davis in the past, but were not dating each other at the time of the incident.
The woman told detectives that at roughly 4 p.m. Tuesday, she had willingly headed to Davis’ home at 1254 E. County Road 650 South. While outside the home, ISP said the couple had an argument, during which Davis grabbed the woman’s keys and cellphone and refused to give them back.
The woman said she tried to walk to a neighboring residence for help when Davis tackled her and forcibly took her inside his home. ISP said during the hours she was held there, Davis assaulted the woman as they continued to argue. Davis reportedly continued to refuse to give her keys back.
The woman said she was able to get the keys and leave at roughly 10 p.m., at which point she reported what had happened to the Logansport Police Department.
An ISP detective investigating the incident arrested Davis early Wednesday just before 4 a.m. on two preliminary charges: a felony count of criminal confinement and a misdemeanor count of battery. Davis was then booked into the Carroll County Jail.
