RUSHVILLE, Ind. - A former Rushville police officer was arrested after investigators accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with a teen girl.
Indiana State Police said Cale Worley, 28, of Rushville, was arrested Friday on multiple charges including felony misconduct.
Detectives said Worley has been under investigation since August 2012 when the Rushville City Police Department tipped off ISP about his alleged relationship with the 15-year-old girl.
The investigation began when the uncle of the girl mentioned the relationship to his probation officer. Rushville police then turned the case over the the state police.
Investigators said they found evidence that shows Worley and the teen communicated through text messages and on Facebook.
Police said the 15-year-old talked to Worley about her sex life and other topics.
Worley resigned from his position in August at the start of the investigation, detectives said.
Police said Worley was a former Drug Abuse Resistance Educator in the Rushville Community Schools and that he met with the teen after hours.
"That fact that he's a DARE officer makes it even harder, because I have a child here at the elementary school," said Rushville resident Lisa Williams. "You don't think of things like that is going to happen in your community. But, I guess it's hard to trust anybody."
