ISP: Man drove drunk with sons in car during storm

Young sons were released to their mother

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man faces multiple charges after he is accused of driving drunk with his two young sons in the car during a snowstorm.

Troopers with the Indiana State Police responded to a crash on northbound Interstate 65 during the height of Sunday’s snowstorm around 3:30 p.m.

The driver, Bruce Oliver, 35, crashed into a concrete barrier wall, officials said. He told police he was taking his two sons, ages 12 and 13, to his girlfriend’s house.

Police said they could smell alcohol on Oliver and he had unsteady balance and slurred speech.

Authorities said Oliver failed sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.20 percent.

Oliver faces charges of operating while intoxicated, two counts of operating while intoxicated endangering a juvenile and neglect of a dependent.

Oliver’s sons were released to their mother, police said.
