ISP: Woman hid 500 pills in her body

SEYMOUR, Ind. -- Three people were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on I-65 near Seymour Tuesday, which led to the discovery of more than 500 illegal pills concealed inside a woman's body.

Indiana State Police said a trooper initiated a traffic stop around 9 a.m. Tuesday near the 51 mile marker for a traffic violation and the trooper's K-9 alerted him to the odor of illegal drugs. 

A small amount of marijuana was located during a vehicle search and three suspects were taken into custody, ISP said. Those suspects were charged with possession of marijuana are Demetrius Sims, 20, of Texas, Brandon Ewing, age 26, of Detroit, and Martanique Collins, 23, also of Detroit.

Troopers said when a more thorough search was conducted at the jail, it was discovered that Collins had 538 pills concealed inside her body. All of the pills were schedule II controlled substances, leading to more charges for each of the three suspects. 

Indiana State Police did not reveal any further information about what the pills were, or where they were hidden.

Collins was additionally charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, level 4 felony, trafficking with an inmate, level 5 felony, and visiting a common nuisance, class B misdemeanor.

Each of the three remains in jail pending initial appearances in court.
