RICHMOND, Ind. - Indiana State Police detectives are investigating the death of a patient at the Richmond State Hospital after two inmates got into a fight.
ISP said detectives from the Pendleton District were called to the hospital, located at 498 Northwest 18th St., late Sunday morning after hospital staff discovered a patient dead in his room.
Investigators say Daniel Davis, 30, got into a fight around 10:30 a.m. Sunday with patient Charles Boyer, 59, in the building where both were housed.
After the fight, the staff said they found the victim, Boyer, dead in his room. ISP said an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Davis was booked into the Wayne County Jail with a preliminary charged of murder, a Class A felony.
