BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Seventeen Indiana University sexual misconduct cases were found to have been investigated without bias or influence, an IU review found.
The review was initiated when the Director of Student Ethics, Jason Casares, resigned amid allegations he sexually assaulted a woman at a conference in December.

The review was done by Julia Lamber, professor emerita at the IU Maurer School of Law. For each case, Lamber read the case file and listened to the audio recording of the heading.
"The university can trust the training [of its hearing officers] and the process" for adjudicating sexual misconduct claims, Lamber's review said
According to her review, Casares sought the opinions of the other panelists in the hearing before offering his own, and every case but one was a unanimous decision.
