FRANKLIN, Ind. - Families looking to be green and save green this Halloween are invited to swap costumes in Franklin this week.

The eighth annual "Respook, Rewear, Rescare" Halloween Costume Swap will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Franklin Cultural Arts and Recreation Department.

From kids to adults, those looking to switch it up this Halloween can bring gently used costumes to swap for a next-to-new selection from hundreds of donated items.

"Just bring a mask, a recital outfit or something out of the dress-up box, like an old funny necktie, and pick out a new costume," said Kim Schafstall, education coordinator for the Johnson County Recycling District. "It's a very fun event for the whole family."

Last year, about 60 families took part in the costume swap, which is open to everyone. Costumes range in size from infant to adult, and a mix-and-match rack is also available for those who want to create their own look.

"It's totally a green thing to do, and it just makes sense," Schafstall said.

More information about the "Respook, Rewear, Rescare" Halloween Costume Swap can be found on the Johnson County Recycling District's website or by calling 317-738-2546.
