INDIANAPOLIS -- A judge has ruled that a former Park Tudor basketball coach should remain behind bars for now.

Kyle Cox is accused of trying to convince a teenage girl to have sex with him.

Cox was arrested last week on charges of coercion and enticement.

During a hearing Monday, the judge said he was prepared to release Cox to his parents until his trial.

But the judge stayed his decision because the government said it would appeal.

Prosecutors said that Cox tampered with witnesses and obstructed the investigation.

In addition, they said that Cox asked the 15-year-old victim to lie and encouraged another student to assault her.

Court documents reveal a text message prosecutors said Cox sent to a basketball student manager saying, "I would turn my head if you messed her up."

Another text said, "Just keep your nose clean."

Following those texts, prosecutors said the 15-year-old was assaulted at school..

Attorneys for Cox said that their client never attempted to obstruct or tamper with witnesses in the case and he should be allowed to stay with his parents.

The appear could be heard later this week.
