Kokomo police investigate pedestrian struck, killed

Exact cause of accident under investigation

KOKOMO, Ind. - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle just after 6:30 a.m. Friday, officials said.

Officers responded to the 2600 block of West Boulevard Avenue on a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Officers discovered a vehicle, driven by 42-year-old David Rogers, traveling westbound struck 72-year-old Vernard Johnson, police said.

Officials said Johnson was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries from the accident.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Kokomo Police Department and the Howard County Coroner’s Office.
