BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Zachary Stevens, 25, was arrested Monday in connection with multiple church burglaries, police said.
Seven Lawrence churches reported burglaries between Jan. 6 and Jan 13 including Gullets Creek Baptist Church, Fayetteville Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Hilltop Pentecostal Church, Popcorn Christian Church, Spice Valley Church of Christ and the First Baptist Church.
Probable cause of a suspect was built and established as a result of extensive teamwork amongst the Indiana State Police and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
A search of the resident in the 500 block of Old Needmore School Road in Lawrence County resulted in the recovery of all of the stolen items reported, a media release said.
Police said Stevens was charged with Burglary, a Class B felony, Theft, a Class D felony, Criminal Mischief, a Class A misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana, a Class D felony, Possession of Controlled Substance, a Class D felony, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Class D felony.
