LAWRENCE, Ind. - An expanded smoking bank went into effect in Lawrence on Monday at 6 a.m., making it illegal for Hoosiers to light up in bars and hotels.
The ban mirrors the ban that went into effect in Indianapolis this year. Private clubs in Lawrence are excluded from the ban.
Randy Jackson owns Racks Bar and Grill and said he is worried that the ban could snuff out his business.
"There are three bars up the street here with no smoking. They don't have hardly any alcohol sales," Jackson said.
Anti-smoking advocates said they will now shift their focus to surrounding communities of Speedway, Southport and Beech Grove, that are not included in the Indianapolis ban.
