LEBANON, Ind. - A 25-year-old Indianapolis man is dead after he was hit by a car while standing on the road late Saturday night in Lebanon, police confirmed.
The Lebanon Police Department said a few minutes before midnight Sunday, police headed to the 1500 block of South Perry Worth Road (near Interstate 65 on the city’s south side) after getting word that a person walking had been struck by a vehicle.
Officers said when they got there, they found Keegan D. Stiver lying in a yard, dead from apparent blunt force trauma. A woman who was with Stiver was uninjured, police said.
Investigators said Stiver had been walking north when he was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female. Police said it appeared Stiver had been standing in the roadway when he was hit.
Officers said the area of the crash is rural and poorly lit, with no sidewalks or streetlights. They are still unsure why Stiver and his friend were walking in the area, but officers said at this point, alcohol does not seem to have been a factor in the crash.
The fatal wreck remains under investigation.
