INDIANAPOLIS -- A fixture of the Indianapolis LGBTQ community will close its doors at the end of the month.

The Talbott Street Nightclub announced Tuesday it would cease operations on June 25 after 15 years.

In a press release, the club said the decision was made with a "heavy heart and bright eyes," but didn't provide a specific reason for the closure.

The announcement comes amid an already difficult time for the LGBTQ community. On Sunday, 49 people at an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando were killed by a gunman claiming allegiance to the Islamic State.

The shooting coincided with the national Pride weekend celebrating the LGBTQ community.

It's with a heavy heart and bright eyes that we must announce the end of an era for Indianapolis and the LGBTQ Community. Talbott Street Nightclub will be closing Saturday, June 25th.

The Talbott Street family would like to thank all of our supporters over the last 15 years! We've seen some amazing national talent come across our stage including our amazing cast of in-house performers. In addition, we'd like to thank the amazing organizations that we've helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Indianapolis community. Without groups like IndyPride, The Bag Ladies, the Damien Center and Lambda Legal, the success of Talbott Street would have not been possible.

In the time in which we live, the idea of a safe haven is being challenged. Talbott Street has provided a safe place to be for over a decade, for which we are very proud.

We'd like to invite all of our patrons, supporters and friends to come celebrate one last time with our staff and performers these next two weekends before we close on Saturday, June 25th. Doors will open at 9pm.
