MADISON COUNTY, Ind. – Parents in Madison County are learning where teens may hide drugs, thanks to a mobile exhibit.

A trailer exhibit called Hidden in Plain Sight is ran by Intersect, a non-profit drug and alcohol prevention agency.

Parents who participate go inside a mock a bedroom and shown exactly where drugs may be hiding.

“Well I went in there and thought ‘wow this is just a bedroom, but after things were pointed out to me, I'm like wow,’ I'm very shocked and very surprised,” said Alicia Pugh.

The country-wide drug problem is why the exhibit is needed more than ever, said Intersect officials.

“Because of the drug epidemic that's going on and our youth are using in earlier and earlier stages, prescription drugs are becoming more and more prevalent because they are available in the home, we use this trailer for parents and adults only," said Karesa Knight-Wilkerson, executive director.

The exhibit has been operating for more than a year, and the idea behind it was born out of a trip to Florida.

“My staff went to a drug prevention summit in Florida last February and they came back and said 'they have this great trailer with all this cool stuff in it and we should do it here.’ I said if you come up with the funding then I'm all for it,” said Knight-Wilkerson.

The staff wrote a grant and received additional funding from the mental health department.

Those interested in having the exhibit in their area can call (765) 683-0452.
