MADISON COUNTY, Ind. -- Days away from a state competition, a Madison County, Indiana robotics team had its equipment stolen, forcing the teens to scramble to compete.

Team Roboto is made up of students from high schools across Madison County. The students have been making a robot since January. The robot was supposed to compete Saturday in the FRC Robotics competition at Southport High School.

But earlier this week, Kevin Rockhill, the team's mentor, said an IBM computer and a drive station were stolen from a truck parked near his house in Anderson.

Those parts are vital in operating the robot. Without them, the students won't be able to compete.

"Oh my goodness, this is a setback," Rockhill said. "You have three days and you've lost a major part of your robot. Bad things happen, you have to adapt and overcome. That is what the kids are learning from this."

To make it in time, the students are packing about ten months of work into a few days to compete against other schools' robotics teams.

"If you did take our control station, it's really important to us?" one student said. "It cost us a lot of money to make. Could you please return it?"
