Man accused of hitting pregnant woman in abdomen with vacuum

ISP: Williams also in possession of meth

ODON, Ind. - An Odon man was arrested Friday after police said he battered a pregnant woman Thursday night.

During their investigation, troopers with the Indiana State Police discovered that Ronald Williams, 55, hit a pregnant woman in her abdomen with a vacuum cleaner.

Williams also fired a shotgun at the woman four times, police said. The woman is currently four months pregnant, authorities said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant early Friday morning. Police served the warrant to Williams at his home in the 14000 block of North County Road.

Police said Williams initially came outside of his home with a shotgun in his hands, but he later surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

Police searched Williams and discovered he was in possession of meth, officials said.

Authorities said Williams faces charges of battery on a pregnant woman, possession of meth, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Williams is currently being held at the Daviess County Security Center on a $1 million bond.
