AVON, Ind. - An Avon man faces charges after illegally killing a wild turkey, Department of Natural Resources officials said.
Richard H. Tomasik, 55, was charged after a conservation officer found him deep frying the turkey in his garage Saturday.
According to the DNR, the fall season for hunting wild turkeys ended Oct. 28.
Conservation Officer Jeff Wells said Tomasik admitted to shooting the turkey while deer hunting in Putnam County Saturday.
DNR officials were alerted to the incident by a concerned hunter who reported seeing Tomasik in the woods with the dead turkey.
Tomasik is facing up to 180 in jail and a fine up to $1,000.
