INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police are investigating a shooting on the city's northeast side Saturday afternoon that left a man in extremely critical condition.

Officers were called to the 3900 block of North Grand Avenue about 5:15 p.m. after dispatchers received reports of a shooting.

Indianapolis police public information Officer Kendale Adams said that when officers arrived, they found Danny Martin, 55, of Elwood, in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.

 "EMS crews arrived and transported the victim to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition," Adams said.

Investigators combed the area in search of witnesses and any possible suspects.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. Tips can also be sent via text by sending INDYCS and information to 274627.
