INDIANAPOLIS – A man has died as a result of a house fire in Franklin Township earlier week, according to investigators with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

John Williams, 53, was found in a bedroom inside one of four condos that caught fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters said the quad of condos in the Carriage Courts neighborhood did not have any working smoke alarms.

Investigators said while they have not discovered the exact cause of Williams’ death, they believe it was accidental.

IFD Chief Ernest Malone recommends all homeowners test their fire alarms frequently and discuss evacuation plans with family members.

Those in need of a smoke detector should call (317) 327-6093.
