INDIANAPOLIS - A man was fatally shot at a restaurant on Indianapolis' north side early Saturday morning.
Indianapolis police were called to the Denny's at 8808 N. Michigan Road about 5:45 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found Mario Wilson, 46, suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses told police that Wilson was inside the restaurant when he had a verbal disagreement with 26-year-old Leonard Bond.
Police said Bond left the restaurant and started banging on the window to get Wilson to come outside.
When Wilson saw Bond coming back inside, Wilson met him at the door and was shot by Bond, police said.
When Bond tried to leave, he was stopped by other customers until police arrived and took him into custody.
Bond was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder, officials said.
Wilson was a 22-year veteran of the United States Army.
