INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police are investigating the shooting death of a man found behind an east side home.

Officers were called to the 3500 block of North Dequincy Street just before 6 p.m. when a woman said she let her dog out and discovered a body.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot, police said.

"Homicide detectives have arrived and have begun to canvases the area for additional information," said Indianapolis police spokesman Officer Kendale Adams. "The Marion County Forensic Lab is processing the scene for evidence, and the Marion County Coroner's office is processing the deceased."
