HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. - A man who was pulled from a retention pond in Hancock County late Monday has died, Indiana Department of Natural Resources officials said.
About 10 p.m., rescue crews were called to the pond north of U.S. 52 near County Road 500 West after family members became concerned about the man's whereabouts when he didn't return home from a fishing trip.
The unresponsive man was pulled from shallow water and taken to Hancock Regional Hospital where he later died, police said.
Indiana Conservation Officers identified the victim as Zachary Wood, 22, of New Palestine.
Wood's official cause of death is under investigation.
