BEECH GROVE, Ind. – A man was taken to the hospital in serious condition after he was involved in a tree trimming accident on the city’s southeast side Monday afternoon.
Beech Grove and Indianapolis firefighters used an aerial ladder to rescue the 67-year old in the 1200 block of Smoke Tree Drive around 2:30 p.m.
The man said he was trimming trees about 25 feet into the air for family members when a portion of the tree fell on him.
Despite his severe pain, the man was able yell for help and a neighbor ran to a nearby IMPD officer’s home to call 911.
Firefighters said it took about an hour and a half to rescue the man due to the severity of his injuries.
