INDIANAPOLIS - A man was injured early Monday when the vehicle he was riding in crashed into a tree.

Officials said just before 7:30 a.m., Gabriel Burgin had just picked up Monty Stickles to ride to work. Burgin said there was a problem with the gas pedal and he knocked over a traffic signal near Bradbury Avenue and Shelby Street before crashing into a tree.

Stickles was trapped inside the car for a short time before he was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Burgin refused medical treatment, officials said.
